JOLLY is a mastic made on combined synthetic resins basis. It is mainly used for gluing and filling all types of marbles and natural stones.
Natural stone tiles may over time acquire small holes, chips or cracks. Using the Jolly filler this can easily be overcome and restore the floor back to it's former glory.
Above is a worst case scenario of the filler in a slab of Travertine coming loose / popping out. This is usually caused by poor fitting or weak travertine (Commercial Grade), but all Travertine is subject to the filler coming loose due to the nature of the material.
STEP 1.
Remove any remaining loose filler and dust, the easiest way is to use a hover to thoroughly clean out the affected area.
STEP 2.
Take out only the amount of filler required to fill the immediate effected are. The filler is mixed at a ration of 2-4 gramms of hardener to approx 100 gramms of the filler.
STEP 3.
Mix and amalgamate the two components properly with either a putty knife or similar, make sure the hardener is mixed through thoroughly to ensure a even setting.
STEP 4.
Once mixed properly the two components will be a light straw colour with a smooth consistent, streak free shade ready for applying to the problem area.
STEP 5.
Apply the filler to the hole / scratch / chip, making sure you have sufficient filler for the area.
STEP 6.
Using a flat sided filling or putty knife push the filler in to the affected area to ensure all the cavity is filled.
STEP 7.
Using the same filling or putty knife remove any excess filler from the surrounding area, this will make the following steps more straight forward.
STEP 8.
Now you have removed the excess you will need to let the filler dry, this will take approx 30 mins to 1 hour to ensure the product has fully cured.
STEP 9.
Once dry you have a couple of options, if the filler has set and you are happy with the finish then you have completed the filling process.
If you feel the area and think it's slightly rough or that the area is raised / proud then you will need to proceed to the next.
STEP 10.
Using a fine grit wet and dry sheet, apply a small amount of water to the area where the filler is and rub the filler to remove the excess product until you get to the desired level / finish.
STEP 11.
Once dry the filler will be completely flat and smooth, and you have completed the fix.
NB - Take care when using a metal putty / filling knife or similar to make sure that you do not scratch the surrounding area.
The filler used above is a straw colour the product is available in a few other colour please see the link below for details of these colours.
