STONEFIX Ceramic Wall Tile Adhesive is a showerproof, non-slip ready mixed wall tile adhesive.
USES: For securing ceramic wall tiles to most types of interior surface.
DIRECTIONS: All surfaces should be clean, dry and free from dust and loose material before commencing. Tiles should be fixed within 20 minutes of spreading, depending on temperature and absorbency of wall surface. Touch the adhesive ribs periodically and if a skin has formed, remove the adhesive and apply a new layer. In all cases, it is good practice to periodically remove a tile to check that the adhesive covers a minimum of 70% of the back of the tile. The adhesive should be applied to a maximum 3mm bed-depth using a 5mm notched trowel to form horizontal ribs on the wall surface before pressing the tiles in firmly with a slight twisting action to ensure good contact. Only spread sufficient adhesive to cover an area that can be tiled over within a 20 minute period.
SURFACES:
Plaster: Prime surfaces with a suitable tilers primer diluted 1 part tilers primer to 4 parts water. Allow fresh plaster at least four weeks drying time before commencing tiling. Always fix tiles to finishing rather than backing coat.
Wooden surfaces: plasterboard and blockboard: Ensure surface is dry, flat and sound, minimum depth 12mm. Surfaces must be braced every 300mm. We recommend the use of moisture resistant grades. All surfaces must be sealed with tilers primer diluted 1 part primer to 4 parts water prior to tiling.
Painted surfaces: Not recommended on emulsion/limewash paints. Remove and prime with a suitable tilers
primer. For gloss paints, degrease as normal and score with a knife to provide a key for the adhesive. Allow at least five days drying time before grouting.
Rendered surfaces: Allow new rendering to dry for at least 4 weeks before tiling. Internal renders only.
Existing tiling: Roughen the tiled surface and score out grout joints before removing all traces of surface
contamination. Apply the adhesive using a notched trowel and fix tiles directly. Leave the tile joints open for up to 7 days to allow adequate drying before applying the grout.
COVERAGE: Approximately 1 litre per square metre.
SPECIFICATION: Conforms to both BS5980 as a Type 2 and BS EN 12004 type D1T. We recommend that tiles should be fixed in accordance with BS5385: Part 1: 1976: “Code of Practice for Wall Tiling.”
STORAGE: Store in cool dry conditions between 5°C and 25°C. PROTECT FROM FROST.
SHELF LIFE: 12 months from date of manufacture.
HEALTH AND SAFETY: Low hazard when used as directed. Keep out of reach of children. If product
